ABOUT US


Founded by four enterprising brothers in 1953, with a start-up capital of INR 8000 (Indian equivalent of $110) and one expeller oil mills in South Bombay, the Liberty Group has grown to become a large conglomerate with interests
spanning edible oils and consumer goods to warehousing and infrastructure; retail and real estate to commodity trading and agri-exports.

Operating out of a heritage building in South Mumbai, the Liberty Group consists of a diversified collection of businesses that are vital to the Indian economy. From providing India with essential everyday foodstuffs to generating eco-friendly renewable power, we strive to leave a positive footprint on the Indian and World economies by being responsible corporate
citizens, and through our mantra of ‘A Tradition Called Excellence.’

Edible Oil and Solvent Extraction Plant set up in Ghatkopar.

Inaugurated our flagship Shahapur Refinery.

100MT/day refinery commissioned at Shahapur.

Received India’s first ever cargo of imported edible oil.

1995

Large scale launch of branded goods.

Entered the logistics business.

Packaging division commissioned HDPE plant.

1998

Launched ‘Sunday Sunflower Oil’

1998

Acquired port based liquid storage terminal at Kandla.

1999

Entered renewable energy business.

2002

Expanded into non-oil consumer goods with the launch of Sunday Chakki Fresh Atta.

2016

Commissioned corrugated boxes manufacturing plant

2017

Expanded consumer goods portfolio with spices, ghee etc.

Commenced operations at Sunday Retail – group’s supermarket venture.
